Below is a figure taken from a recent paper (Trujillo and Jewitt. In press, AJ , April 1998.). Images A-D are identical sections from the first image in a three image sequence, accounting for 1.6% of the area of the mosaic. A, all objects are identified. B, stationary objects have been rejected. C, cosmic rays have been rejected. D, velocity and consistent flux criteria were applied using the other images in the sequence, leaving Kuiper Belt Object KV1 marked. Images 1-3 show KV1's westward movement in the three images. North is up.
